The Bribie Island RSL Sub Branch, works with the Banksia Beach Primary School and the Bribie Island State School, to hold each year a Public Speaking event.

Five students and two reserves are selected from each school by their teachers to participate in the event which is held late in the school year and organised by the schools.

The Bribie Island RSL Sub Branch, provides the monetary prizes for all those that participate including the reserves and also chooses one of the participants for a special Award from the Sub Branch, called the Little Digger Award which is a special plaque given to young people who excel.

The event is judged by people from the Bribie Island Toastmasters and has been an ongoing event for many years to support young people in their endeavours.
